[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I’m such a lucky puppy because my mama knows such nice people in Finland that I get to go visit! Mama and I took a cruise called Silja Line from Stockholm (Sweden) to Åbo in Finland. The cruise didn’t take more than about 12 hours and departed in the evening, so mama and I had a good night’s sleep on the Baltic Sea before we arrived in Finland.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1045″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Mama drove to Rauma, an hour and a half north of Åbo, Finland’s second largest town, on the Baltic coast. There I got to meet her lovely friend Hanna, her parents and her friends. Hanna is always ready to take me, or anyone else for that matter, along to something fun.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1044″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Rauma is a lovely small town in Finland that has a truly lovely old town with narrow cobblestone streets and old wooden houses. The Rauma old town is an UNESCO world heritage site since 1991. The town also has a Maritime Museum, but we didn’t have time to visit it.
Instead, we watched the sunset from Hanna’s parent’s beautiful sea-side house. We ate a lovely strawberry cake, had sausages that were grilled on an open fire and we even took a little spin on the Baltic Sea with their boat.
Note from mama: Taking one of the cruise ships between Sweden and Finland is a great way to travel with a dog between the two countries. The ships run through the beautiful Stockholm archipelago. The cruise ship companies are called Silja Line and Viking Line. Dogs are allowed on the ships, but one must book one of the dog-friendly cabins. There is a designated area on the deck for dogs to do toilet. The cruises are usually quite cheap, and sometimes one can find dirt cheap deals online.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Finland is so much fun! I also practiced the art of swimming, which you can read about in the post TravellerDog Pompe Practices Swimming in Finland. If you want to read more about traveling with a dog in Finland, mama has written quite a bit about it under Plan a Trip Finland.
