Blonde Finnish Girl inflating sleeping-mat in lean-to in front of an open fire

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hanna (our Finnish guide), took me and mama wilderness camping in a Finnish forest. Wow was that ever exciting! I would never have guessed that there is a camp-site with everything you need hidden in the peaceful forest outside Rauma.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Just a few meters from the small gravel parking there is a small log-cottage nestled in between the pine-trees. Nearby is an out-house and an open-air picnic area. The cabin has a big fire-place in the middle of the cabin, log-benches all along the walls and a big hole in the roof. For some reason they didn’t want to build a chimney. Instead the smoke from the open fire escapes from the cabin through the hole in the roof. I like the hole because it allows me to check on the birds even when I’m inside the cabin.

Hanna and mama cooked food on the open fire as I dug a few beautiful big holes outside and barked at a few birds. The next day we went for a hike in the pine-forest and a board-walk on a beautiful open swamp. Wild Cloud Berries grew on the swamp. Cloud Berries are a Scandinavian delicacy. They are small berries that look like small orange raspberries and have a very distinct flavor.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2078″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]If you want to read more about traveling in Finland with a dog, mama has collected a bunch of information on the page Plan a Trip – Finland. For example, you will learn whether dogs are allowed on public transport and what to expect when it comes to finding accommodation that accepts dogs.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2082″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2081″ img_size=”full”][vc_single_image image=”2079″ img_size=”full”][vc_single_image image=”2080″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
