[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mama and I, TravellerDog, have been in Malta for a few weeks now. There are a lot of great things here, for instance the fresh sponges on the beaches, the friendly Maltese, the rocky beaches and the aviation museum. However, there are some negative things about Malta as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
- The immigration authorities in Malta appear to be focusing on the wrong things. Malta is a money-laundering hot spot, it helps wealthy Europeans evade tax and apparently, the ISIS oil that is sold in Europe enters the European markets through Malta. Despite these large and serious issues, the authorities have a very large budget to go after tourist’s domestic pets. As I have written about earlier, I had a big problem when entering Malta. Also, if a pet owner doesn’t notify the Maltese authorities prior to arriving in Malta with a pet, they can be fined 500 Euro.
- The food is not as good as one would expect from a Mediterranean country. Rabbit is a Maltese specialty and is served in many shapes and forms. In this article, I’m sampling some delicious rabbit ravioli. The selection of vegetables in Malta is rather limited, and the Maltese don’t give as much attention to detail in their cooking as their neighbors, the Sicilians. When you have had enough rabbit, you may want to try one of the many Turkish restaurants in Malta. They have great and inexpensive food.
- You see a lot of broken down houses in Malta. Although some people think it gives character, I think it makes the place look shabby. However, I hear that this situation is about to change over the next few years due to regulatory changes.
- Sand sometimes blows over from the Sahara desert, covering the island in yellow sand-dust. When this happens, the streets and cars become yellow and people sneeze more. Luckily this doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s not very nice.
Ok, so now you know what I don’t like about Malta. In the post Best Things About Malta According to TravellerDog I explain what my favorite things about Malta are.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1778″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1525676442830{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_single_image image=”1777″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1775″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1776″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you want to know more about traveling with a dog in Malta, visit the page Plan a Trip – Malta.
